There is no doubt that the students that participated in the "Camp In A Can" activities were successful with the Science TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, 8th Grade).  Every student was able to work (6th & 7th grade) with "Camp In A Can", and in meeting with the Certified Teachers they felt that the students were successful during their science classes.  This year I will be using "Camp In A Can" for the Middle School students and Elementary students.  Thirteen campuses will be using "Camp In A Can".  We are all excited as our students will be working with hands on activities.

They integrate dance, creative writing, painting, arts and crafts, physical activity, competition, and even eating…..Beyond its informational and entertainment value, this program takes into account the psychosocial development of participants.

Our school wants to use the after school program as a way to improve science scores.  So we purchased Camp in a Can because of the links to National Science Standards.  We don’t know yet if it will work, but it is sure getting the kids excited about science.

The DVD was so helpful.  Our leaders aren’t educators, but they had no trouble understanding and teaching the science concepts.  Seeing the kids doing the activities on the DVD just made it so easy.

We loved that every activity was packaged by the activity.  So we didn’t have to search through the box for straws and pipe cleaners.  …. and we loved that everything was ready, so we didn’t have to cut out the little bugs or put holes in the cups.  …. and we loved that we didn’t have to go out and look for the right size of rubber band or index cards…. I guess, we loved everything!  Now could you just teach the kids to play a little quieter?
